Moving to the UK or Just Arrived?
WE MAKE IT EASY:
>> Want assistance? Avoid the emergency tax and apply for a national insurance number online
As you may have found out by now, getting a national insurance number (through Jobcenter Plus) is really important to get sorted out really quickly because your employer is going to charge you the top rate of tax because they don’t know who you are and they essentially have to do that by law.
HOWEVER - It’s a frustrating process because it can take quite a few weeks to sort out (assuming everything goes smoothly). Fortunately, there are some services that can help you sort it out quicker and easier which I will tell you about in a moment.
Just to let you know about the web site a little bit, I’ve divided it up into two areas: British and other nationalities. The reason why I’ve done this is because for most British people returning to the UK, it’s really just a matter of retrieving your national insurance number. If you’ve never worked in the UK, there are some other options there for you. Basically you need to go through the system like everybody else.
Other nationalities there’s also a couple options there for you depending on where you’re from and what visa you’ve got. You can actually in some cases avoid the evidence of identity interview which can be a frustrating process in itself. You have to basically put together a whole bunch of documents and show up for this interview in the middle of the day when you could be working. So avoiding that can be a very worthwhile idea. Unfortunately it’s not available to everybody, but if you do use one of the services that I recommend, they will help you sort out your paperwork for your evidence of identity interview which in itself is very helpful so that you don’t have to go back again at very least.
So there’s many options here. I’ve got how-to’s on how to do it yourself if you really want to go that way. If you’re coming from overseas there’s a link there and a bunch for information, and if you just want to go ahead and purchase one of the services that I recommend, then you can click this button here.
It’ll take you through to companies that I’ve been recommending for well almost a decade now. So I feel very confident that you will get looked after there.
If you wish, you can also leave a question on the blog itself. You’ll find that a bunch of other people have left questions and I try and answer those as quickly as I can.
So you might like to read the answers to their questions as well. Thank you for watching and I hope you get your and NI number sorted out as quickly as possible and have a great time in the UK.
